ONE-TO-ONE TUTORING


Who qualifies?

APNLC focuses on potential learners who fit in the mission of the centre or who are particularly in need of basic skills. Participants must:

1. be adults over 18 years of age and no longer in school; and
2. have literacy skills below a grade 12 level.


How do learners enroll in a program?

As meeting the needs of the learners is the central mission of the Centre, potential learners take an initial assessment that includes an interview and a written test. The whole process of assessment takes up to 2.5 hours. The initial interview is conducted in a friendly manner to find out the needs and goals of a potential learner. The interview is followed by a written test which evaluates a learner’s current skill levels in reading and writing. Once the learner’s eligibility is confirmed, she or he will be placed in a suitable program.

Enrolment is continuous throughout the year. Walk-ins are accepted but appointments are preferred.
